We planned to drive more through western and central Finland, but here and there we asked what was really the most beautiful and everyone said east. Do we like that, along the border with Russia? We meet a German couple and they say it is easy to do, they come from the north. We google some more and decide to just do it, after all, the borders are all closed.
The German couple also recommended a campsite. Five km from the Russian border immediately feels next level, but what a nice campsite! We are in the forest and on a sandy beach of a gigantic lake. A trampoline and playground right next to our camper. It is almost windless so the lake is like a mirror. The SUP soon appears and Mirre goes for a trip. What a place! Then Johan and the girls together and alone for a while. The girls are having fun playing in the sand. They can play together better and better, the two are enjoying it!
That evening we eat on the beach and think that this may be our most beautiful dinner spot yet.
The mosquitoes are not too bad for us so far. When the sun is about to set (which is only around 10 p.m.), a few more come.
But then we take out the thermacell (awesome device).
The next day we relax. Nice shower, good food, lots of free play, a bit of paddle boarding, a bit of reading. In the evening we grill sausages, sandwiches and marshmallows. We like the Finnish life. At least, in the summer. In winter, 24 hours in the dark seems a bit less to us, but it is not without reason that most coffee is consumed in Finland. How else do you wake up on a day like that?
The next day we tidy up and leave for a national park. Time for some action.
