We had already chosen a campsite but when we arrived there this morning and saw everyone standing there between the fixed spots, we decided to look further.

Half an hour further we found a “first camp” campsite. Large-scale but very spacious and lots of greenery. The girls are playing in the playground. Mirre showering, wonderful a shower without coins! It is the first campsite with entertainment, Jinte and Mirre make a beautiful work of art and a little later Yessi the unicorn comes along. The girls don’t want to know anything about it. We are also very lucky with the weather, it is windy but the temperature is lovely. Mirre sees some nonsense between Johan and Jinte. What could those two be cooking up?

The next morning is Mirre’s birthday! 31 years young. She has to stay in bed and the curtains are drawn. When they are allowed to open a little later, the entire camper is decorated. Streamers everywhere. She also gets drawings and lots of kisses and hugs. What a party.

The rest of the day we relax at the campsite, video call some family, eat cake and cycle a bit around the island. We sit down at a terrace and in the evening Johan makes delicious wraps. Just before dinner Jinte asks if she can take some pictures with Johan’s phone. A little later she proudly tells us that she took pictures of the animals and stones and a little boy. They didn’t speak the same language but she had managed to make it clear to him that he had to stand in front of the palm tree. We laugh a lot about it. Would she become a photographer?

After dinner we shower the girls, the first shower is cold, the second shower has a hard jet forward but under the third shower it is wonderful. Freshly into their beds! We do a lot of dishes together, prepare our departure for tomorrow and then play a game.

The next morning, a quarter past 9, we drive away. Maybe a record. We take the east coast of the island, what an idyllic landscape. It looks like Astrid Lindgren’s park.

We would love to stay on the trip longer. Of course we are looking forward to seeing everyone again but we also enjoy all the freedom and an empty agenda.

Our last stop before we really drive home is a very nice one! We have an appointment with one of our favorite travel families. What a great reunion that will be!
