Exploring Mount Olympus: A Camper Van Journey from Thessaloniki
After departing from Thessaloniki, we drove towards a cozy campsite nestled near the legendary Mount Olympus. Since it was raining, we decided to make some good progress on the road. We took a quick break by the roadside for a sandwich — each in our own camper. A bit less social, but thankfully better weather was on the horizon.
Comfortable Camper Life and Pasta Dinners
With the rain clearing up, we cooked a delicious pasta meal. The extendable camper table really came in handy. With enough space to dine together as a group of six under one roof, it’s the perfect setup for this kind of weather.
A Relaxing Day in Greece with Family
The next day was all about relaxation. We enjoyed a chill day in the sun, bonding with our new travel companions. Grandma and grandpa had some time to settle into camper van life. While RV camping is new to them, traditional camping certainly is not — and it shows. They’re absolute turbo dishwashers!
Later in the day, we took a peaceful stroll along the beach, catching up and planning for the days ahead. We had originally hoped to give our grandparents the experience of wild camping, but we’re still deciding if we’re up for the adventure.

Hiking to a Waterfall at Mount Olympus
On Sunday, we packed our belongings and made our way closer to Mount Olympus. Luckily, the drive wasn’t far, so we took it easy. That afternoon, we embarked on a beautiful hike toward a waterfall. Although most of the trails were closed, we still enjoyed a simple route — sometimes that’s just what you need.
The view was absolutely stunning. We’re constantly amazed by just how vibrant and green Greece is during this time of year. Traveling by camper van really gives us the freedom to explore these natural wonders at our own pace.
