Today we drive towards the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. When we recently asked Jinte what she would like to do while traveling, she said that a zoo would be fun again. Great idea!
Dogs are allowed in this zoo. Never experienced this before, but considering the heat it was very nice, otherwise we would have had to shorten our visit somewhat.
It is a nice zoo, built around a hill. Some animals actually have a very natural habitat. Jinte suddenly comes to me halfway through the day, happy Mother’s Day, she says! Didn’t mind at all. Johan had thought about it earlier this week, but not today. Isn’t it wonderful to go to the zoo on Mother’s Day? There are also many nice playgrounds. Jinte confidently climbs towards a high slide, but ultimately does not dare to get off it. You will see the solution in one of the videos.
After the zoo we drive towards our parking lot for tonight. An ideal place because we can take the bus to the city from there. We do that in the afternoon. The bus rides are quite pleasant. Ljubljana surprises us. It is atmospheric and authentic. A river runs through the city with all kinds of cozy restaurants. It reminds us a bit of Utrecht. We wander around a bit, find an ice cream shop with gluten-free cones and Johan did have a gluten-free restaurant in mind for tonight. Dezela Okusov. After we have ordered, we see many more tasty things. That’s always something. Normally there is little to choose from and if there is a lot to choose from, Mirre experiences some stress choosing. Fortunately, Johan keeps it cool. We eat delicious food and have a nice chat with the people next to us, Slovenian people whose wife studied in Rotterdam for four years.
A quick game of tag while waiting for the bus and back to the camper place. There we see two Dutch couples who were also standing at Lake Bled. Jinte recognizes them immediately!
After a wonderful night’s sleep we first look for a doctor, but after a few closed doors that turns into the hospital. Jinte’s stitches need to be removed. Actually it is not possible in this place in the hospital, but then again it is. The bed storage is also a thing here, as can be seen in the photos. We have to go to door 1, where they act angry and say that the stupid student at the beginning should have sent us away, they refer us to door 3, who in turn goes to door 4. We are allowed to take a seat in the waiting room. It takes forever. We split up. Johan goes to the camper with Diede and goes shopping, Mirre and Jinte wait in the hospital. When I ask after 1.5 hours how long it will take, they are so rude. I ask Jinte for her passport back, but that’s not easy. Ultimately, the excuse that we have to catch a plane this afternoon helps. It’s our turn very soon. The wound looks good and the stitches are out fast. Thanks and bye! The people in the waiting room look at us in amazement. Another woman told us that today was still quiet compared to other days.

Jinte and I are now very hungry. We take the bus to the center and there we get a hamburger, an ice cream and new sandals for Diede. Jinte clearly enjoys the quality time.
Back to Johan and Diede. On the way it starts to rain heavily. Johan has bought the groceries, Diede is sleeping. They pick us up at the bus stop and we start our journey north.
On to Finland!
