On to the next hike. On the way we drive into a quite bumpy road, we turn around. Mirre makes an error in judgment while turning. The rear wheels are stuck in a ditch. Mirre is panicking and crying, Johan literally with his hands in his hair. Oh no, oh no. This is not good. Johan remains calm. Okay, plan the campaign. Johan takes over the wheel and at full throttle he just manages to get out. What a relief and how lucky that there was no tree and we only suffered minimal superficial damage. We continue our way with a sky-high heart rate.
Take a moment to relax, time for lunch! We score a delicious hamburger. The staff is very warm and it is a typical Finnish place. With our bellies full we arrive at Koli National Park. A mega truck parks next to us, its wheels are bigger than Jinte. Impressive! With a car like that, that ditch wouldn’t have been a problem. We chat with the owners and start the walk. A cute elevator takes us upstairs. In winter there is a ski area, the snow is still on the slopes. Jinte wanted to keep her dress on, so she walks in style. The mountain boots complete her look. The walk takes us to various viewpoints. Beautiful views over the lakes that Finland is so famous for.
We return to the camper at our leisure. We drive a bit, eat something at a playground and put the girls to bed in their chairs. The long light keeps them cozy for a while and then they fall asleep. We continue until midnight and park the camper along the road. We put the girls to bed. The next morning, after a delicious breakfast and a short walk with Goos, we drive further towards Oulu.
