A campsite with several Dutch people, the people are in their 60’s / 70’s, but Jinte couldn’t be more happy! A little later it appears why there are so many. An ACSI tour starts here on Sunday. One camper or caravan arrives after the other and Jinte helps them with straps, fold out tables, etc. We enjoy her wonderful talks from a distance.
During the long walk at the Plitvice Lakes we had promised Jinte hot chocolate but all stores were closed because it was Labor Day. Fortunately, the camping restaurant has it! Despite the rain we play in the playground. Then a simple meal and to bed.
Little on the program today. We wash the laundry away. Diede waves royal to actually everyone. Johan and Mirre play Beach Tennis and Jinte knows more about campers after this trip than we do.
In the afternoon we almost take a dip in the pool when we see a snake wriggling in it. Johan to the rescue. He grabs him with bare hands and throws him in the bushes. Okay, it went a little different. After dubbing who will do this, Johan finally gets him out with a branch. It was exciting, because a 6 meters long Python is quite something!
The swimming fun is only of short duration. Jinte wants to give Diede a wet hug and slides into the foot bath, exactly with her head on the edge of the swimming pool. We soon see that it is a deep, wide cut and fairly heavy blood. Swimsuit off, poncho on, quickly to the reception. One of the Dutch walks along as soon as we walk past her. She turns out to be toddler teacher, Grandma and first aid person and helps where she can, super nice! The woman at the reception is quite in panic, almost more than we, but also very helpful. She brings all kinds of first aid material and calls 112. We bandage Jinte’s head and the ambulance arrive’s quickly. After many questions, some checks and quite a bit of paperwork because we don’t have a blue EU card, Jinte gets a crazy hat and the bleeding seems to have stopped. Just to be sure, to the hospital, Mirre goes along. Jinte is pretty upset but Mirre can chat her through it. Johan quickly takes a bag with some things and, together with Diede and Anne-Marie (that nice Dutch woman), waves the ambulance while Jinte is crying that she is already missing her sister.
We are helped quickly in the hospital. In the meantime, Johan has applied for an emergency blue card online. This is immediately usable so that is also arranged. When we take a seat on the treatment table, the nurse takes a shaver and wants to start without saying anything. Hold on! We won’t do this like that. He looks surprised. The question of whether they want to share everything with Mirre so that she can discuss it with Jinte is well received. The question of whether all this can also be done without shaving, a little less. Fortunately it turns out not to be necessary! They want to clean it and numb it and then stich it up. Great, only Jinte does not want a puncture. That everything is in English is an advantage in this case. Mirre can translate everything child -friendly. Ideal! Jinte her favorite book is in her bag (top fellow that Johan) and helps enormously to distract. Jinte bravely gets through it. Also an X -ray and when it turns out to be good, we can go.

The Dutch wanted to come and get us, but Mirre thinks that is just a little too much to ask when they just have a drink together. We take a taxi. Jinte falls asleep at the end of the taxi ride. When we get out she has energy for ten. Just eat something, round the pool for processing and then some crafts for Anne-Marie. She is happy with it when we bring the gifts, we drink something in their caravan and then it’s bedtime.
Jinte can sleep with us, very nice. When Diede also joins halfway through the night, it is a bit tight. Mirre lies with Jinte’s feet and Diede with Johan’s. The girls sleep wonderfully, we a little less. Fortunately, Jinte responds well when we wake her up in the night.
The next morning we leave early. At 1 p.m. there is a tour at the Caves of Skocjan. We are well in time but what it turns out? Out of stock. Mirre grumpy because she did not think of ordering tickets online. Back tomorrow? Yes or no?
