End of January literally became end of January! But.. we are on our way and while Mirre is writing this we are already in Germany.

A little throwback to the past few months. We bought a fantastic camper during a weekend away with family near Emmen. It had everything we wanted: solar panels, an oven and Johan went wild about the large garage. A few weeks later we picked it up. We started renovating: new floor, water filter, nice wallpapers, beautiful beds for the girls. We were busy! The BOAs left us alone so we could happily do some DIY next to our house. Unfortunately we felt something was wrong while wallpapering the girls’ girl cave. So a trip to Emmen because we had a guarantee. Girls with a lovely family, there on Sunday evening, the camper to the garage on Monday morning, loan car back, Johan working in the afternoon. Changing plans, first clearing out the house instead of renovating the camper.

Mirre had a nice farewell to her work. The weeks towards the end were difficult, letting go is not her strongest point but once she was done, a burden fell from her shoulders. Space for new things!

The camper came back, we made it to our liking and tidied it up. Unfortunately, we were told that Diede had to undergo a bowel examination under anesthesia, so we left two days later. Fortunately, everything went well, we will hear next week whether she also has celiac disease.

Last Saturday we had a nice farewell drink at our house. Sunday we ate pancakes with Mirre’s family. On Monday, Mirre, Jinte and Diede deregistered from the Netherlands, after we first stood at the wrong town hall. Crazy idea to no longer be a resident of the Netherlands but the only way to get out of compulsory education.

Another aunt came to look at the camper. We proudly showed it to her but to our great horror we saw a new leak. This time we had it repaired close to home but oh oh what stress.

From one emotion to the next, a nice meal with Jo’s family. We also visited Mirre’s grandmother. We’ve said goodbye to almost everyone in the meantime. Leaving two days later became three days later because yes, we still had to dry things. We were often closer to tears than laughter. Whose idea was this? In the end we decided to just go.

And so this morning the moment finally arrived. We closed the door behind us and drove out of the street. Less euphoric than we had thought beforehand because of all the fuss around it but.. we’re on our way and despite everything we’re really looking forward to it!

Great that you’re following us again!
